It's Last Fridays of the month, a monthly highlight in Folkestone’s cultural calendar where the art community and local residents check out what creative carry-ons are taking place behind the doors in Tontine Street and The Old High Street.
Lockdown called for new ways of adapting. Starting from April 2020 Last Fridays, we got together to ask local artists and creatives to bring art into their window. Both then and now, we are calling for work that is inspiring, amusing, radical, and bold and can be experienced from street level. From paintings to installations or films and performances, we want windows to become the new galleries on the street.
Last Fridays has been reinvented for art lovers and everyday window gazers to experience and enjoy when gatherings in indoor spaces have been prohibited. We ask that everyone respects physical distancing and encourage people not to gather when taking in the work.
If you would like to get involved, get in touch through Last Fridays Facebook page or by emailing [email protected]. We want to see the number of happenings taking place grow - so why not take a punt and join in with the creative community that is on your doorstep.
Other Last Friday's Folkestone events are also highlighted on other Folkestone Fringe Triennial pages - look out!
