HOP Projects CT20 is pleased to present a window installation by the artistic duo, Hijack, created under lockdown in China, and part of the - Surface Tensions 2020-programme.
HIJACK is an artistic duo co-founded by Jing Xie and Qiong Zhang, working at the intersections of performance, installation, and moving-image. Hijack has spent the month of May 2020 undergoing a REMOTE residency. As strict segregation is maintained across China, Hijack have produced a series of performances and interventions in the cities they live: Hubei & Gansu. Entitled: ‘白日摸瞎’, or ‘Shooting in the Dark’, the work aims to reflect their living conditions under isolation, global exclusion, and the rise of surveillance as part of the daily norm.
