Profound Sound 2019

Profound Sound 2019
1st - 3rd February
Folkestone Quarterhouse & Creative Quarter, Kent

We’re excited to announce that Profound Sound is confirmed for the first weekend in February 2019!

Back for our fourth year, Profound Sound continues to grow and build, in terms of bringing a truly alternative music offering to the South East. A weekend programme, loaded with some of the most diverse artists, practitioners and workshops in the world today, Profound Sounds aims to break down the ‘gig’ format as much as possible and enable the music to be made and enjoyed by all attending, regardless of experience or ability.

An community-based festival that acts as a springboard for groups of people to access experimental and marginal music, and begin to experience the fringes of sound art.

We are pleased to make our first announcement of artists and practitioners for the weekend:

Ex-Easter Island Head
Tim Exile
Nacht und Nebel
Gladden Fields
Local Foreigner
+ more TBA

We are also thrilled to say we have commissioned Tazelaar Stevenson to create the visual art for our posters and graphics. Tazelaar is an artist based in Norwich, UK and has created sleeves for Four Tet, Caribou, Szun Waves, Luke Abbott and Nathan Fake. We’re extremely in love with with the beautiful works he has printed for us!

Presented by: Folkestone Fringe and Hot Salvation Records.

Funded by: Folkestone Town Council, Roger De Haan Charitable Trust Creative Foundation.

Partnered with: Phantom Limb, Vanity Pill, Space 7 Gallery, Cherif Hashizume and Anil Sebastian.

Musical evolution and adaptation is an interspecies phenomenon. And presumably, as some claim, birds enjoy singing, even though they, like us, change their tunes over time. The joy of making music will find a way, regardless of the context and the form that emerges to best fit it.
