SALT 2026

SALT: Samhain to Imbolc, 2026–27

This winter, SALT brings Folkestone a season of encounters with our land and sea, and the human stories they hold.

From the threshold of Samhain (31 October) to Imbolc (1 February), we gather along our coast, to share new stories of care and renewal that connect our coastal community to the natural environment

SALT celebrates practices that restore and regenerate, drawn from land, sea, science and art. And it tries out new ways of bringing more of us into the conversation.

Giant puppets and community-led opera take on rising seas and the loss of the wildlife we share this coast with. Artists transforming materials to explore regeneration. We listen deeply to the landscape. We unpick and rework our clothes, and face up to how they are made.

We'll invite you into overlooked corners and hidden nooks, to gather in places that show the town from a new angle and to share stories that have gone untold.

What does caring for this coast look like to you?
