PETRIFIED FORMS | Listening Walk and Live Performance
Date: Saturday 31 October Times and Locations:
11am - Martello Tower 1
12:30 - Abbots Cliff (Nudist Beach)
16:30 - Walking back to Folkestone town centre
18:00 - 46 Old High Street
As part of CT20's Artist Cultural Pathway (ACP) programme and my ongoing research project PETRIFIED FORMS, I will be making a new durational, site-specific performance on the coast between Folkestone and Dover.
There will be a sound-accompanied listening walk to the site, starting from Martello Tower 1 [the one renovated into a home] on the corner of the King Charles III England Coast Path, in Folkestone at 11 am, or join me at any point throughout the performance at Abbots Cliff Beach [nudist beach] between 12.30 pm and 4.30 pm.
Please note that all times are approximate and subject to the human condition.
This performance marks the first part of an unfolding process, with a second part to return to the site next year. I would love to have your presence and support if you can make it.
Although not officially launched yet, I'll also be hosting informal post-performance drinks from 6pm at the new home of PETRIFIED FORMS, 46 The Old High Street, Folkestone, where you can find me thawing out, with the wax relics on display.
Come and go as you please, witness for as long or as little as you wish.
ACCESS, TERRAIN & WEATHER
Please bring warm layers, appropriate footwear for shifting terrain, and personal sustenance to endure the unpredictable coastal weather.
Access to the beach involves a narrow path followed by a steep, 11-step ladder fixed to the cliff. The tide will be rising towards high tide during the performance. While it is not expected to cut off access to the ladder, the water may come close.
Please be mindful of the conditions, assess your own comfort and safety, and be prepared to make your own decisions about accessing or leaving the beach. Waterproof footwear is recommended.
The performance may be visible from the edge of the platform above the beach for those unable or not wishing to descend the ladder, although clear sightlines unfortunately cannot be guaranteed.
