Profound Sound is back with its 2020 instalment and we are proud to be celebrating our fifth year. The co-curated programme with Hot Salvation Records brings an experimental, winter festival to Folkestone as well as to the dark nights of February - combining music, sound, and performance, with DIY - feel workshops and installations.
This year we are dialing up the intimacy and keeping it local. We are also bringing some special international acts to thrown into the mix. With a more focused programme, this festival experience comes as a package- 14 events across a handful of venues. We aim to create a platform for emerging and developing artists from the local area to showcase themselves as well as hosting opportunities for collaborators to create and share new work. Profound Sound 2020 is all about honouring the talent in our town, in tune with its changing demographic as well as inspiring our future festivals for the next five years.

"Folkestone Fringe & Profound Sound Festival has enabled what feels like the beginnings of a real hotpot of experimental music & sound-art in Folkestone" - Our co-curators, Hot Salvation Records.
This year highlighted that #profoundsound is something that's turning into more than a yearly festival - but a collaborative force that is being recognised & cherished in & beyond the cultural calendar. This year has inspired our future thinking & what it may look like, so watch this space.
We want to say a huge thank you to our collaborators/supporters Hot Salvation Records, Phantom Limb, Creative Folkestone, the incredible artists & practitioners, the wicked venues which hosted us, and everyone who came and experienced it - you made this year truly awesome.
Big shout-out to Manuel Vason (gallery up soon) & Clare Unsworth & Cassie Newcombe of Foxbite Media for filming.
