Urban Room Folkestone

Opening times:
Wednesday - Sunday: 12-2pm

The next iteration of Urban Room Folkestone is sited in the Old Tourist Information Centre at the epicentre of the Old Town and Harbour. From this new site, it will continue to offer a place for the discussion, talks, debates, inquiry, and presentations for residents and visitors alike who wish to contribute to the future of Folkestone.

Urban Room Folkestone is a space where people can go to understand, debate and get involved in the past, present and future of where they live, work and play.

The purpose of an Urban Room is to foster meaningful connections between people and place, by using creative methods of engagement to encourage active participation in the future of our buildings, streets, and neighbourhoods.

The Urban Room spring series of workshops, talks, and events were for locals of all ages interested in learning about urbanism, design, planning, and place-making. It ran until May 4th, 2019.

The URF also hosted "The Festival of Looking" throughout June, which unified and promoted the Magic Carpets Creative Europe project for 2019, as well as other collaborations who were looking more closely at the streets and neighbourhoods of East Folkestone.
