Free Range is a series of award-winning music, film and poetry events in Canterbury founded by Sam Bailey in 2012. The Free Range Orchestra is a collective of musicians, dancers, poets and a puppeteer with a shared love of improvisation and experimentation. Their performances combine the uncompromisingly anarchic with a celebration of creativity and community.
Words from Paul Cheneour:
"I'll be a member of the Free Range Orchestra being lead by Sam Bailey.
This is a collective of highly talented musicians exploring new sonic landscapes/languages integrating acoustic instruments and electronics with an emphasis on compositional sympathy to each player. The FRO performances are noted for their beautiful but sometimes disturbing textures as well as a particular overall coherence.
It's always a huge joy to participate with the FRO."
