"Back for our fourth year, Profound Sound continues to grow and build, in terms of bringing a truly alternative music offering to the South East. A weekend programme, loaded with some of the most diverse artists, practitioners, and workshops in the world today.
We've got three nights of impeccable music and a whole heap of workshops, talks, and performances during the day where you can work, play, experiment and interact alongside the artists on our programme. This is a true gem of a festival with an incredible line-up of brilliant talent to liven up the darkest days if winter."
"We are charging for the Friday and Saturday night headline events at the Quaterhouse Auditorium only, the rest of the festival is free. This also includes the closing events at Brewery Tap on Sunday and our after-hours programme at Space."
... We’re now reflecting on Profound Sound 2019, and wanted to say a huge thank you again to all of our visitors, performers, and practitioners alike who made Profound Sound the best yet. And in particular, to our partners and co-curators who made it happen: Hot Salvation Records, Anil Sebastian, Cherif Hashizume, Phantom Limb, Arts Council England, Vanity Pill, Creative Quarter & Folkestone Quarterhouse.
Across the Creative Quarter, Folkestone opened its doors to showcase some of the best experimental music within the world today. With the help of Arts Council England, Profound Sound hosted 3 days of top-quality, alternative sound that was delivered from our diverse line-up of 2019.
Whether you came for one of our free DIY workshops, stayed for the whole festival with an under 23 pass, or, simply enjoyed a Saturday night out with the accompaniment of one of our groundbreaking headliners, we really hope that there was something for you.
In the heart of the Creative Quarter at the Folkestone Quarterhouse, Friday and Saturday nights hosted our evening gigs which oversaw 4 performances each night. Profound Sound also assisted not only as a force in creating a collective space for contemporary music-making and a focus to the art / craft that surrounds this for all tastes and ages; yet also added historical value to the colourful landscape of the truly creative hub that this town has become, by actively showcasing talent of all kinds that was both local and international.
Plans for 2020 are already underway with dates to be announced soon. What would you like to see next year?
