13.15 | FK ALEXANDER - RECOVERY
2 FEB
13:15-14:15
QUARTERHOUSE AUDITORIUM
RECOVERY is an immersive sound-based sensorial experience. Performed using singing bowls, gong, medicinal noise music, restorative attention, and chakra clearing frequencies.
Conceived as a response to the commercialisation of meditation, capitalist anxiety, and hyper-medication culture, this work invites people to suspend intellectual understanding in favour of temporary physical and possibly other kinds of relief.
Audience members engaging with this performance will be invited to remove footwear and coats, with the opportunity to lie down and become comfortable for as long as desired. Contains complex frequencies and volume in parts.
Originally created and performed with Lea Cummings and Sarah Glass
About The Artist:
FK Alexander is a Glasgow based Performance Artist whose work is concerned with issues of wounds, recovery, aggressive healing, radical wellness, industrialisation and noise music. FK's work predominantly puts her body at the centre of ritualised, action based, often durational work, in often ridiculous attempts to communicate ideas around new language, new violence and new love.
