Edge: Push/Pull

Folkestone Fringe curated ‘Edge:Push/Pull’ to coincide with the 2017 Folkestone Triennial exhibition ‘Double Edge’

2 sep - 5 nov 2017

EDGE:PUSH/PULL is about movement, the friction caused by change – and how change impacts on different sections of our community; playing out in our streets, our homes and our places of work.

A change in mindset involves ideas, new ways of seeing and new perspectives. This cultural change comes from the edges and over time (often a long time) it moves into the centre to become formally adopted – part of accepted practice; the mainstream. This is how real change happens – change that impacts our daily life.

The artists presenting work during the Folkestone Triennial Fringe work at the artistic edge and from their edge of seeing. From the shared experiences of their work a dance of push and pull between all parts of our community happens – pulling at frictions and pushing us forward to embrace opportunity and create space for new developments.
