FOLKE ABOUT TOWN is a series of test events bringing new markets, music, family activities and more, into the heart of the town centre. Developed in partnership with local businesses and the local community these events are designed to breathe new life and vibrancy into the High Street.
As part of this initiative, we are testing new ways to enhance the existing Folkestone Street Market on Sandgate Road and are introducing a new market space on Guildhall Street and outside the Folca (the old Debenhams building) in the town centre.
CALL TO ACTION
This is a call out for all you budding creatives who have been busy refining your side hustles or are about to embark on one and are looking for opportunities to test your ideas and products in a brand-new marketplace. Maybe you’ve got a new product you want to demo or a business idea you’d like to get some feedback on, if this sounds like you, apply for a market stall and surround yourself with like-minded people stepping out of their comfort zone and onto the market.
Maybe you’ve got into making one-of-a-kind pieces of art or crafts, buying and selling vintage and pre-loved clothes or upcycling interesting and unique furniture and want to get it out onto the High Street and make some money out of it. For the cost of £10 per 3meter pitch, and £10 hire for a pop-up gazebo, you’ve got nothing to lose. Come hang out, enjoy some music, a bar and a new hustle and bustle on the High Street.
HOW TO APPLY
We are trialling art markets, food markets, flea markets and youth markets as part of these events as well as encouraging any other ideas to enhance the street market offer.
