While hourly news of conflicts, horrors and fear reach us from all directions, we try to cope and create a new overstimulation. Sounds from industry, fighting and nature are played and challenged by art.
Drum sets are played by us and you the visitors, to bring order and chaos into the uncontrollable soundscape of brutality and triviality. An experiment to find the rhythm of conflict and make sense of the constant stream of noises from FAIL, Folkestone artists, and yourselves in the form of a live drum alliance.
FAIL - Fine Arts Institute Leipzig (Leipzig, Germany) is collaborating with artists and the interested public to challenge individual and collective struggles. This year’s motto is FEAR. How can this be met artistically? Our performance shows the absurdity of simultaneity, and is the attempt to act in spite of it. While the war is throbbing like a subtext in the back of our minds, we want to play in spite of it, without forgetting it and keeping it in our consciousness.
