"The Dinner" is a gathering inviting 8 immigrants to cook and enjoy a meal together while communicating solely in their own mother tongues. It explores the idea of communication beyond language barriers, challenges the ideas of assimilation through submission to one's culture, and celebrates the diversity immigration brings.
Our aim is to celebrate, shine light on the diversity of our Folkestone community and explore the ways in which communication is always possible when openness and acceptance is at the heart of our intentions. The event will be filmed and live-streamed.
