M.R. James’ classic horror novel was transformed by the BBC into a classic of the genre. When a house is inherited, the new owner finds that it has been cursed since the day his ancestor condemned a woman to death for witchcraft. He soon discovers that the ancient Ash tree outside his bedroom window is the root of the problem. With live accompaniment by Claire Orme and guest musicians.
This event has been organised in partnership with The Ash Project, an urgent cultural response to the devastating effects of ash dieback.
The Ash Project has been commissioned by the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is generously funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England.
