The Magical Curves is a speculative art project based on an ancient divination technique called Geomancy, which enables us to read the future by observing drawings, marks and stains on earth or sand surfaces.
Like any divinatory process, it is something that is rationally inexplicable, but which, in its intuitive singularity, inevitably combines important aspects of care, ecology and materiality. Following this research, the aim of this workshop is to bring together a group of people interested in experiencing a process of opening a collective oracle focused on the observation, collection and mapping of accidental forms that can be found on natural surfaces, rocks and landscapes around Folkestone Town.
Through individual and collective exercises, the group will be motivated to develop poetic, visual and performative narratives that can express ways of establishing a sensitive relationship with nature - also involving excursions outdoors.
Participants must register in advance and be available for the entirety of the two day workshop.
