ROB BIRCH's Open Studio
A chance to meet the artist, see a selection of new digital works and collages and talk about the work and ideas behind it.
Date: Saturday 30 - Sunday 31 August
Opening Times: 10:00 - 17:00
Location: FLAT 3, 69B THE OLD HIGH STREET, FOLKESTONE, CT20 1RN
To share the artists work and explore new ideas about creativity, self and identity. To challenge the accepted notions of identity as represented by the traditional portrait and come to understand that new and exciting ways of seeing are possible. Failing that to have the throughly good time with a great cup of tea and a selection of biscuits.
Rob Birch is an ordinary person who makes his work from whatever already exists. He creates new and challenging images that abandon the idea of representation as the sole means of experiencing self.
He uses digital media and collage techniques to express identity as a felt experience. One that reflects a version of the self as a yet unknown concept. One that only comes into being through the relationships created by shared experiences and lush mutations between all entities.
