Join local artist Elizabeth Tophill and Afghan story-tellers Jamila and Halima Khan at a free workshop to learn how to make Afghan kites, and listen to stories and music from Afghanistan.
This is a chance for children and their grown-ups to learn how to make an authentic Afghan kite designed by master kite-maker Sanjar Qiam.
Materials include just a few wooden sticks, some tissue paper and string, and a big dollop of creativity and connection!
You are then invited to join us on Saturday 20 August for Fly With Me - a mass kite-making and storytelling workshop at Case Anacaona on Harbour Beach before people come together for a huge kite-flying celebration.
This is a free workshop for 20 children. Each child must be accompanied by at least one an adult who is prepared to help make the kite. Adults don't need to book a ticket. To book your ticket, CLICK HERE.
Can’t come along?
A kite flying pack is available to download for free here: in Arabic, Dari, English, Pashto, Ukrainian and French. You can also order materials and watch Sanjar Qiam’s online tutorial!
Fly With Me Folkestone is co-produced by Folkestone Fringe and Creative Folkestone.
