A collection of artworks made in contemplation of St Eanswythe, her miraculous waters and the local landscapes.
Date: Monday 01 - Sunday 28 September
Opening Times: 11:00 - 16:00
Location: Parish Church of St Mary & St Eanswythe, Folkestone, Church St, Folkestone CT20 1SW
Everywhere in Folkestone is Uphill is the culmination of a project that began in 2024, which has been a fascinating journey of saints, relics, miracles, ancient geology and hidden energies.
Inspired by Folkestone’s patron saint, her church and her waters, the works in this exhibition are interpretations of the story of St Eanswythe, a 7th Century Anglo-Saxon princess, and include an abstract landscape, painted with salvaged textiles, an ethereal shroud made using local flora, and ceramics made from Gault clay foraged from sacred sites across the town.
