Cosmic Thoughts is musically influenced by minimalist composers, bands and artists that have used repetition extensively in their work. Be it Steve Reich, Neu, Women, Underworld or Electrelane.

The general sound has been a natural meeting point for many a band from different genres who let short riffs stretch out into mantric repetition, allowing simple chord structures, repetitive
basslines, and intuitive play with texture to guide their ideas - the point where Krautrock, post-rock, shoegaze, psyche-rock, post-punk are all in waving distance.

Profound Sound 2017

"An interesting note: the band channels the vibe of avant garde director Sofia Coppola, producing a sound that parallels “the general ‘too cool for school’ aesthetic” of her waspy films. The final recipe is modern post-punk expanded with dreamy space and rolling breakdowns that cry anthems."

"The album has a certain vibe running through it holding it together, a vibe that’s dark, moody and soaked in the atmosphere a Joy Division, say, but that also has the pounding drive of the best krautrock bands."
