Community Art Studio

What could a Community Art Studio be? Folkestone Fringe is experimenting with open access creative studio spaces in Folkestone.

#Workshop #Open Studio #Installation

Date: September - October
Opening Times: Thursday - Friday 11.00 - 16.00

Location: Atrium of Folkestone Museum, 1-2 Guildhall Street CT20 1DY

A place to play, to experiment, to discover new ideas.

Folkestone Fringe will be squatting in front of Folkestone’s Museum and Visitor Information Centre - offering people the opportunity to explore their own creativity with three Artists in Residence.

By keeping creativity in the centre of town, the studio will bring people together even while the high street is under construction for the Levelling Up project.

  • About Liv Pennington’s project
Artist Liv Pennington is taking over the Community Studio to play with tangible ways of connecting people offline. Think of it like a giant old-school Rolodex, but filled with local creativity. You can flick through it, find others, and add yourself in! Pop by, have a rummage, and build a hands-on creative directory for Folkestone.
  • About Sarah Lloyd’s project
Artist Sarah is running a series of workshops working with air-drying clay over a conversation. Clay in our hands, conversation in the air, the piece will keep shifting and growing as we go. Come along and be part of it!
  • About Tapped.In project
Artist collective Tapped. In will invite young people to engage with Folkestone Triennial artworks to collect their honest reviews. These will be published and distributed. Once young art reviewers submit a review, they will receive a reward, SpARTan playing cards.

Between Monday 03 - Sunday 30 November, we’ll open up a new space in Urban Room Folkestone, providing free materials and making invitations inspired by Flint & Clay for all ages.

Community Art Studio is a welcoming and accessible space to try things out, share ideas, and see what happens. So grab your friends, bring the kids, invite your neighbours - or just come along yourself. Or do a call out for finding your new folks to do something creative! Everyone’s welcome.
