Alison Neighbour : Chalk Coracle II

- Audio Walk -

Fri 8 - Sun 10 Sep

The walk begins at East Cliff Coastwatch station, collect a map and tune into the VHF radio.

Chalk Coracle II invites you to walk down through the chalk cliffs and down through time. Guided by a gentle audio track and the landscape itself, gain a new perspective on this space where land and sea are one and the same.

The walk involves some slopes, uneven terrain and steps. Walking shoes advised. The walk takes around 1 hour to complete. Bring headphones and an mp3 player or smartphone - we recommend downloading the walk before you set off as signal is limited in the area.

A small number of devices with the audio already downloaded are available to borrow from Urban Room Folkestone, Harbour Street, CT20 1QN, open between 11:00 - 17:00.

Alison is a scenographer and artist based in Folkestone, interested in our connections to place and to each other. Visit her website here

Accessibility Information:

The walk is approximately 2.5 miles over terrain that can be uneven and slippery, with several short but steep gradients and steps. There are two kissing gates. Unfortunately the route is not accessible for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility, but consultation is in progress to develop a more accessible experience for 2024. If you cannot access the walking route you are welcome to borrow an audio device from Urban Room and choose a spot facing the sea to enjoy the listening experience. Large format maps will also be available from Urban Room, along with additional information about the route and the terrain.
