A Folkestone native, Rebecca has seen the art scene of the town grow since a young age. This sparked further interest in the arts and helped Rebecca pursue her passion by studying Illustration for Screen Arts at The University of Brighton. While at university she Produced and Illustrated a magazine called BLUE which took inspiration from South-East seaside towns, such as Brighton, Hastings, Folkestone, and Margate. These interested her as she grew witness to the art scene that rejuvenated them, after the decline in tourism since the 80’s.
Rebecca joined the Folkestone Fringe team in 2021 as an Assistant Producer, she has been helping set up and organise multiple projects. The project she first led point on was Signals, working with schools, hosting workshops for the community to get involved in it and also doing a collaboration with FAIL institute in Germany and Alchemy in Scotland. Since then Rebecca produced Fringes annual festival Profound Sound which involved liaising with artists and making sure all the tech team were okay for time and equipment. In the 2022 Profound Sound, Fringe tried something new, where it runs the course of the year starting in April and then sound events popping up in July and November. Rebecca will be working on these throughout the year along with other project including SALT, the festival of the environment.
In the future Rebecca hopes to be a full-time Producer in the arts, whether this is in theatre, events or installation.
