FESTIVALS & PROGRAMMES

Folkestone Fringe builds community within Folkestone through festivals - our annual programming is created in dialogue with local people and has grown to reflect their values, interests and aspirations. Our festivals explore, develop and validate connections between people and place, both for residents and visitors.

Bringing people together to see, watch, hear, and learn new things is an integral part of our work. Our programmes are often co-curated with other local organisations and charities as well as members of the public and artist communities.

Folkestone Fringe festivals enable spaces of creation - encouraging experimentation, risk-taking and the incubation of ideas from artists and audiences. Among the people attending one festival, there are the future artists on the programme of festivals in the years to come.

In addition to their creative integrity, our festivals, diverse in their themes and intentions, also offer greater awareness and new knowledge. Providing hands-on, experiential learning for local youths who receive paid employment and skills development through Folkestone Fringe.

Our aspirations are to be a key driving force in strengthening and supporting a long-term, diverse creative scene, culture and economy in Folkestone. We believe in the transformative power of art, and use creative tools and festival models to support people in seeking self-actualisation.
