deal pier sound 09

in july 2009, the folkestone fringe was commissioned by the deal music festival to produce sound and visual work that responded to deal pier, one of the last remaining piers in kent.

a sound palette was captured by students from Walmer tech in Deal, and sound artists were invited to interpret the acoustics sounds of this modernist concrete pier.

as part of the educational outreach of this project, Walmer tech students created a series of drawings that were produced into the artwork for cd and the deal pier sound posters. These along with images of the event can be viewed here.
