Places and Spaces

curated by Julia Riddiough
part of the edge: push/pull programme

Places and Spaces’ for Folkestone Triennial Fringe 2017 delves into Michel Foucault’s vision of heterotopia; literally meaning ‘other place’, a rich idea describing space that is on the edges possessing many meanings for example; museums, theme parks, holiday resorts, cemeteries, wellness hotels, festivals, markets and ultimately the ship. Delivered to architects in Paris in 1967 fifty years ago; architects, planners, urbanites and artists continue this debate today.
