The Regeneration Game

Alison Dakin (also featuring the work of Desi Demowa and Francoise Lloyd)
Date/Time TBA
Un1que, 93 High Street, Hythe

We are producing a 2-3 minute short documentary film about transforming forgotten items of furniture into beautiful pieces of art. We will be using a projector on the wall or monitor screen to present the video to the public.

Folkestone resident Ali Dakin has spent more than 20 years in primary education where the traditional 3 Rs of reading, writing and arithmetic formed the backbone of the national curriculum.

Having retired from teaching, Ali has now switched to the new 3 Rs which are:

Repurposing quality furniture - wooden tables, chairs and other household items to save them from landfill and give them a new lease of life

Reinventing herself as a creative artist and sole trader because she is not ready to retire and women over 50 are not seen as viable in the jobs market.

Regeneration of the high street to feature more independent shops with a strong community and creative outlook
